We have 3 Mixing Stages equipped with all-digital, state-of-the-art Digidesign D-Command consoles that offer 5.1 Surround mixing in an environment that is ideal for multi-channel audio, utilizing ProTools|HD 3 systems for playback of Dialog, Sound Effects, Music, and Foley, and allowing for immediate and efficient changes to any sound element at any point during the mix.
Everything is random access, bringing a marvelously efficient flow to the mixing process. The mix moves along in a focused rhythm, and our totally digital sound path means that all of your audio remains 'first generation' throughout the process.
This expensive collection of equipment would be worthless, however, without the skilled group of Emmy-Winning re-recording mixers were are proud to have on staff. The combination of their expertise and the technical horsepower at their disposal makes mixing at our facility a uniquely rewarding experience.
Sound Effects Design:
Customized sound effects are created for every new project. Even sounds from our general library are individually modified every time they are used so that they ideally fit the situation. Extensive use of specialized audio software allows us to quickly realize fresh new sounds that are designed to perfectly fit your picture.
Sound Effects Editing:
Our effects editors create intricate and richly layered effects elements for every style of production from cute and cuddly to huge and menacing or insanely comical. Sound effects are stored in Digital Sampler format which allows us to vary the pitch and volume of every sound in a dynamic fashion as it is re-recorded into ProTools. Each sound is individually processed to achieve the most appropriate equalization and placement for the situation. This attention to detail during the editorial process results in better sounding final mixes that take less time.
Live recording of all footsteps and prop movements is provided in our foley stage. To get a more dynamic performance that fits your picture more accurately, we routinely create sounds in foley that other facilities would cut from libraries. Our foley is recorded directly to ProTools through a super-clean analog front end, and positioned to tight-sync for every cue.
We provide digital recording in-house. Digitizing directly to ProTools HD through a pristine analog front end, we can record up to four actors in a radio-play setting or locked to video playback in NTSC or PAL for ADR. Remote recording via ISDN with DolbyFax is available, and our ednet affiliation assures compatibility with all transmission formats worldwide.
When we receive your workprint, we retrieve the original digital dialog files from our archives if we performed the pre-production, or we digitally import the original recordings if your pre-production was done elsewhere. We then tight-sync all lines to match your picture. Additional lines or ADR are inserted where called for, and we maintain libraries of useful readings from each series so that we can enhance scenes that need un-scripted dialog or reactions. All transfers are digital, and all editorial is performed in ProTools.
Often overlooked, but of vital importance to the integrity of the finished product, is the transfer department. Here we employ the highest quality systems for maintaining the full dynamic range of your finished soundtrack. With D-5, DigiBeta, and DVCAM systems in place, we offer a wide array of options to accommodate your Video Masters. ProTools HD, DA-88, and DAT digital formats are supported here as well.
