Many years ago Melissa headed west from North Carolina to demand that someone give her a job as a recording engineer. She first attended the Los Angeles Recording Workshop, and pounded a lot of pavement before finding work -- not at a recording studio -- but at the animation studios of Hanna-Barbera as an engineer in their music department where she was introduced to Post-Production audio work. We hired Melissa based on a threat from a studio exec, and she forced us to let her edit dialog after a very brief apprenticeship. Searching for new worlds to conquer, Moe (to those allowed to address her thus) twisted Jim's arm forcefully enough to get him to teach her the black art of mixing, and now she has become completely insufferable, while maintaining that charming backwoods feistiness we love about her. If she wins any more awards we will probably have to give her the business.
